Kiran Kumar Reddy plans creation of 15 lakh jobs in 3 years

The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, said on Thursday that the state government was contemplating to create 15 lakh jobs in the next three years by upgrading the skills of unemployed youth through special skill development programmes.

As chief guest at the “Facebook India Day” held at Madhapur on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the welfare of the poor, agriculture, education, health and employment generation were priority sectors for the state government.

Quoting the phrases on the pillars of the Facebook office: “Be bold - Move fast – Be open – Focus on impact – Build trust”, the CM said that the government was following these phrases and focusing on people to whom the programmes were intended to reach.

The Chief Minister added that the government was very keen on development of the education sector. “During the ‘Education Fortnight’, the government spent `2,500 crore on infrastructure of schools. The government successfully brought back 38,000 school dropouts out of 1.27 lakh during the fortnight,” he said.

Appealing to parents to allow their children to grow on their own, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said, “My aspirations are different from my children. Unless we enjoy the work, we cannot develop.”

He pointed out that the government was providing fee reimbursement and scholarships to 27 lakh students without any caste or creed barriers to the tune of Rs 3,500 crore per annum. “AP was the only state in the country to extend this facility in a big way. The government has spent Rs 2,800 crore so far and has provided free quality medical treatment through Rajiv Arogyasri to 10 lakh poor people,” he added.

The CM said that the government would constitute a team to work with Facebook to improve the schemes and programmes to be more people-friendly.

He also said that income generation was very important and the government was doing its best through industry and IT.

While the CM's goal is laudable, the efficiency of AP govt is not capable to undertake such job creation effort in 3 years. The current Metro project itself can create several thousand jobs but progress is slow due to funding and infrastructure bottlenecks. Other cities have progressed further than Hyderabad with their Metro rail projects. The current political situation in Twin cities is not conducive to massive jobs promotion. AP has lost many thousand IT jobs already due to Telangana issue. Unless the politics is cleared of this major hurdle there can be no progress. Instead the CM should focus on starting new job-creating industries/programs for backward areas of Coastal Andhra & Rayalseema. Outside Vizag there is virtually no largescale industrialisation in both regions.
