Company moves Granbury productions to Weatherford

Owned by the City of Granbury, the opera house is expected to close for an undetermined amount of time for renovations sometime this fall. Anticipating this disruption in the theater’s availability Mike Skiles, executive producer for Texas Family Musicals and president of its board of directors, has scheduled a one-night performance of Smoke on the Mountain at the Texas Opry Friday night. “I’d like to see some excitement built up for this and for people to really understand what this is going to mean to Weatherford in the long run,” she said. “For as long as I can remember, Weatherford has always wanted to be able to attract the tourism that Granbury has attracted and they have never been able to do it — didn’t know how to do it — and here it is falling in our lap.
