The LaCrosse is equipped with a 3.6 liter, V6 engine that produces 280 horsepower.  It comes with a front-wheel drive, 6-speed automatic transmission and 19-inch alloy wheels.  It is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

The interior, as you may expect in a luxury car, is “loaded.”  It comes with full power accessories, leather upholstery, heated front seat, a wood-grain steering wheel wrapped in leather, tilt-telescope steering wheel, and power front seats with a lumbar adjustment for the driver.

The audio system is an 11-speaker Harmon Kardon surround sound with a CD/MP3 player, satellite radio, and an iPod interface.  The LaCrosse is also wired for bluetooth.  There are even more options and upgrades available.

The LaCrosse comes with the standard safety features: stability control, traction control, side front airbags, side curtain airbags, and antilock brakes.  It also has optional rear seat side airbags.  The LaCrosse comes to a stop from 60 mph in 127 feet, which is something you would expect from a larger car, but it did get perfect 5-star safety ratings in testing which was done under last year’s standards.

When you add in GM’s OnStar communications system, the LaCrosse scores high on the safety scale.

Conclusions and driver feedback:

The LaCrosse CSX does well when stacked up against its competitors.  It isn’t the best midsize luxury sedan out there, but it is far from the worst.  The LaCrosse has a very elegant look and feel to it, both on the interior and the exterior.  It gives a very comfortable, luxury car ride, and the stylish interior is made of high-quality materials.

The seats and cabin environment let you know you are in a luxury car, and the stereo system is world-class.  The LaCrosse gives a very quiet ride, which makes the inner environment even better.  The LaCrosse also handles extremely well for its class.  The steering is very responsive.

As for negatives, they are the ones you would expect from a luxury car.  The V6 engine gets mediocre gas mileage at best.  The other trim levels offer a 4-cylinder engine that gets decent mileage, but terrible acceleration.  The mileage is one of the trade-offs that you usually make in a luxury car.

The brakes can be a bit “mushy.”  This is a common complaint in larger, luxury cars.  Also, the LaCrosse has a very small trunk for a luxury car.

All in all, the LaCrosse CSX is a good car for the money, but it isn’t a world-beater.  If you are a Buick fan, you will probably like this car a lot.
