Salute to 2011 Graduates St. Bernadette Principal Reflects on Academic Year

We have much to be proud of and much to be grateful to God for here at St. Bernadette School. St. Bernadette School was awarded the NCLB National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award for 2008! We are proud to say that we still hold this unique honor.

St. Bernadette School offers a strong Catholic academic environment, where, in addition to learning about our faith, and allowing it to permeate our day, we value academic achievement and reach to meet and exceed standards range in all areas. We are very proud of the Class of 2011! Comprised of 26 students, 50 percent of the class has been awarded over $375,000 in scholarships from high schools in the metropolitan area: Regis High School, Xavier, Xaverian, Dominican Academy, Fontbonne Hall Academy, Bishop Ford, St. Edmund and St. Vincent Ferrer. St. Bernadette School has a faculty comprised of religious sisters and dedicated lay teachers who collaborate to build a caring community based on the tenets of Jesus Christ and a strong academic foundation for its students.

A Middle States Accreditted School, St. Bernadette provides for its students studies in religion and a state standard-based curriculum, as well as special content areas of Italian, technology, art, music and physical education. The curriculum is supplemented with the use of the Accelerated Reader program. Extra-curricular activities provide students with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and areas of interest and personal talent.

An active student council provides the student body with events and gatherings throughout the year. Student leaders develop skills in preparation for positions of leadership in their future. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate as members of the hand bell choir, school band, choir, chess club, craft club, confectionary club, geography club, sports club, altar servers and aquinas program.

Students who thrive on academic challenge engage in math, oratorical, geography and spelling bees. Similarly, gifted students are recognized via the Johns Hopkins search for talented youth and the Junior National Young Leaders Conference. Celebrating over 55 years of excellence, St. Bernadette School looks forward to a future bright with promise and the commencement exercises of its youngest members, the children currently enrolled in our 3-year-old program in 2021!

Dominican Use - Fraternity of St Vincent Ferrer - Extraordinary ...

The Friars of the Fraternity of St Vincent Ferrer lead a religious life, culminating in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and shared prayer, Gregorian chant Office , in the Dominican Rites/usage as well manual and intellectual labour.The Brotherhood is separate and distinct from the Order of Preachers, which they have received "spiritual patrimony" in 1988. It is in contact with the authorities of the Order to discuss the possibility one day of aggregation at the "Family Dominican" The Communities Constitutions were approved by the Holy See in 1995. their Apostolate is of Spiritual retreats and Conferences(Marial, Marriage-prep,retreats to Contemplative Sisters, Confession.) leading traditional Pilgrimages throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Intellectual formation and publications accompanying young people, especially Scouting troops. "For fostering a true consciousness in liturgical matters, it is also important that the proscription against the form of liturgy in valid use up to 1970 should be lifted. Anyone who nowadays advocates the continuing existence of this liturgy or takes part in it is treated like a leper; all tolerance ends here. There has never been anything like this in history; in doing this we are despising and proscribing the Church’s whole past. How can one trust her present if things are that way? I must say, quite openly, that I don’t understand why so any of my episcopal brethren have to a great extent submitted to this rule of intolerance, which for no apparent reason is opposed to making the necessary inner reconciliations within the Church.
